MAG 7 report

📊 StockInsight™ MAG7 Weekly Report — August 29, 2026

Latest market data: Friday, August 28, 2026 close
Outlook period: August 31–September 4, 2026
Coverage: META • GOOGL • MSFT • AMZN • AAPL • NVDA • TSLA

Data standard: I have used verified current-market information and clearly separated confirmed events from reported developments. I have not filled missing analyst actions with assumptions.

🚀 Executive Summary

The MAG7 enters next week with a much more complicated setup than it had seven days ago.

NVIDIA delivered another enormous earnings beat, reporting $96.2 billion of fiscal Q2 revenue, up 106% year over year, with adjusted EPS of $2.22. It also guided to approximately $108 billion of Q3 revenue, above Wall Street expectations. (NVIDIA Newsroom)

But the market’s reaction has become more nuanced.

NVIDIA initially surged after the report, then fell 4.57% on Friday to $217.55 as investors focused on margin concerns and the sustainability of the AI investment cycle. (Investing.com)

At the same time:

  • 🟢 Amazon jumped 3.97%
  • 🟢 Microsoft gained 1.68%
  • 🟢 Meta gained 1.21%
  • 🟢 Alphabet GOOGL gained 1.74%
  • 🟢 Apple gained 1.63%
  • 🔴 NVIDIA fell 4.57%
  • 🔴 Tesla fell 1.71%

Friday’s broader market was weaker, with the S&P 500 down 0.25% and Nasdaq down 0.52%. (MarketWatch)

🔥 The big takeaway

The AI trade is still alive, but investors are becoming much more selective about the economics behind it.

The next test comes from:

📅 September 1: ISM Manufacturing + JOLTS
📅 September 2: ADP + Fed Beige Book
📅 September 3: ISM Services
📅 September 4: U.S. jobs report
📅 September 3: Tesla Cybercab event

The employment report is particularly important because markets are currently pricing roughly a 57% probability of a Fed rate increase at the September meeting. (Reuters)

🏆 Weekly Winners & Losers

🥇 Amazon — Biggest Winner

+3.97% Friday

Amazon was helped by renewed enthusiasm around AI and agent-based automation. Evercore ISI raised its price target, citing progress in agentic AI applications across Amazon’s retail operation. (The Wall Street Journal)

🥈 Alphabet

+1.74% Friday

Despite concerns around AI spending and Gemini, Alphabet recovered modestly.

🥉 Microsoft

+1.68% Friday

Microsoft continues to benefit from improving confidence in its ability to monetize AI through Azure, Copilot and enterprise software. (MarketWatch)

🔴 NVIDIA — Biggest Weekly Risk

Despite an exceptional earnings report, NVIDIA fell sharply Friday.

This is an important signal:

A huge earnings beat is no longer automatically enough to lift the stock.

🤖 AI Theme — The Market Has Changed

NVIDIA’s earnings were objectively extraordinary:

  • Revenue: $96.2B
  • YoY growth: +106%
  • Adjusted EPS: $2.22
  • Data Center revenue: approximately $89B
  • Q3 revenue guidance: $108B
  • Next-year growth outlook: potentially around 70%

(MoneyWeek)

Yet NVIDIA fell Friday.

Why?

Investors are beginning to ask three questions:

  1. 💰 How much will AI infrastructure ultimately cost?
  2. 📈 How long can hyperscaler capex continue accelerating?
  3. 🧮 What margins will AI hardware companies retain as the ecosystem scales?

The Marvell selloff reinforced this issue. Despite strong results and an optimistic long-term outlook, investors punished the stock because the timing of revenue from its Google AI-chip deal was further out than expected. (Reuters)

StockInsight™ Interpretation

AI demand is not the problem.

The question is increasingly:

How quickly can the enormous AI investment translate into durable free cash flow?

🟢 NVIDIA — NVDA

Latest Position

Close: $217.55
Friday: -4.57%

NVIDIA remains the fundamental center of the AI trade.

Its Q2 numbers beat expectations for the 15th consecutive quarter, while its Q3 guidance of $108B exceeded consensus. (The Wall Street Journal)

🟢 What Changed

The earnings report strengthened the long-term AI demand argument.

NVIDIA also highlighted continued strong demand and an extended AI infrastructure runway.

🔴 What Went Wrong

The stock’s post-earnings weakness shows that investors are now looking beyond headline revenue.

Margin pressure, memory costs and the enormous valuation are becoming increasingly important.

⭐ Analyst View

Several analysts raised NVIDIA price targets following earnings:

  • Wedbush: Outperform, $330 → $345
  • Rosenblatt: Buy, $325 → $390
  • KeyBanc: Overweight, $330
  • DA Davidson: Buy, $300
  • Benchmark: Buy, $335

(Benzinga)

🎯 Next-Week Outlook

🟢 Bullish fundamentally / 🟡 volatile technically

The earnings story remains exceptionally strong.

But after Friday’s 4.57% decline, the stock needs to prove that the earnings beat can translate into sustained price momentum.

🟣 Microsoft — MSFT

Latest Position

Close: $513.53
Friday: +1.68%

Microsoft has become one of the strongest MAG7 momentum stories.

MarketWatch reports that the stock has risen approximately 30% over the past month, supported by improving confidence around Azure growth and AI monetization. (MarketWatch)

🏢 Enterprise AI
💻 GitHub
💰 Recurring software revenue

🎯 Next-Week Outlook

The biggest risk is not demand.

It is whether the stock has moved too quickly and needs consolidation.

🟠 Amazon — AMZN

Latest Position

Close: $266.43
Friday: +3.97%

Amazon was the MAG7 standout on Friday.

🟢 Current Catalyst

Investor attention is increasingly shifting toward agentic AI and how AI can improve Amazon’s retail economics in addition to AWS.

Evercore ISI recently raised its target based partly on progress in agent-based AI. (The Wall Street Journal)

🟢 Bull Case

  • AWS
  • AI infrastructure
  • Agentic AI
  • Advertising
  • Retail margin expansion

🔴 Risk

The major risk remains capital intensity.

⚠️ New Problem

The company was cash-flow negative in Q2 because of heavy data-center investment. (The Motley Fool)

🟢 Bull Case

Gemini + Search + Cloud + YouTube provide an extraordinary distribution platform.

🔴 Bear Case

AI capex could become a valuation problem if monetization does not keep pace.

🎯 Next-Week Outlook

🟡 Neutral / Positive

The stock has significant long-term potential, but next week’s macro environment could matter more than company-specific news.

🟦 Meta — META

Latest Position

Close: $577.35
Friday: +1.21%

Meta received a significant legal development this week.

⚖️ $18 Billion Settlement

Meta agreed to pay up to $18B over 10 years as part of a settlement involving claims concerning teenage users and platform safety.

Importantly, the agreement preserves Meta’s personalized advertising system and avoids a potentially more damaging trial. (Reuters)

🟢 Market Interpretation

The settlement removes an important near-term legal overhang.

🔴 Remaining Risks

  • AI capex
  • Free cash flow
  • Regulatory scrutiny
  • International legal challenges

🎯 Next-Week Outlook

🟢 Improving

The settlement is arguably a net positive near-term catalyst, although the financial cost remains substantial.

⚪ Apple — AAPL

Latest Position

Close: $319.70
Friday: +1.63%

Apple continues to move toward its next major product cycle.

🤖 Apple Intelligence

Apple has confirmed that the next generation of Apple Intelligence and its new Siri AI are coming with its next software cycle. (Apple)

Apple has announced its major September product event for September 9, making the iPhone/product cycle increasingly important for the stock. (Cinco Días)

🎯 Next-Week Outlook

🟢 Positive

The stock is entering a catalyst-rich period.

The key question is whether the upcoming hardware cycle can justify Apple’s valuation and reignite growth expectations.

🔴 Tesla — TSLA

Latest Position

Close: $348.75
Friday: -1.71%

Tesla remains the most speculative MAG7 stock.

🚕 Cybercab

Tesla is preparing a September 3 Cybercab event in Austin according to multiple reports. (Gizmodo)

This could become the single most important Tesla catalyst in the coming week.

🟢 Bull Case

🤖 Autonomous driving
🚕 Robotaxi
🚗 Cybercab
🔋 Energy
🧠 AI/FSD

🔴 Bear Case

Waymo continues challenging Tesla’s camera-only autonomy strategy, while regulatory and deployment hurdles remain. (The Verge)

Tesla also previously received approval for only 10 robotaxis in Las Vegas versus its requested 5,000, illustrating the regulatory gap between Tesla’s ambitions and current deployment. (Axios)

🎯 Next-Week Outlook

🟠 Highly Speculative / Event-Driven

September 3 could produce a major volatility event.

⭐ Analyst Rating Intelligence

🟢 Verified Positive Rating Activity

The clearest fresh MAG7 analyst activity identified after NVIDIA’s earnings is price-target increases rather than outright rating changes.

NVIDIA

Multiple firms raised targets following the earnings report while retaining bullish ratings:

NVDA — Wedbush — Outperform — PT $330 → $345
NVDA — Rosenblatt — Buy — PT $325 → $390
NVDA — KeyBanc — Overweight — PT $330
NVDA — DA Davidson — Buy — PT $300
NVDA — Benchmark — Buy — PT $335

(Benzinga)

🟠 Important Accuracy Note

I did not find a sufficiently verified MAG7 rating upgrade or downgrade during the August 22–28 window that meets your requirement for a genuine rating action.

Therefore I am not inventing one.

Price-target increases are reported separately because:

“Buy maintained + target raised” ≠ “rating upgrade.”

🔥 Final StockInsight™ Take

The MAG7 enters September with three competing forces:

💰 2. AI Economics

Investors increasingly want to know whether the hundreds of billions being spent on AI infrastructure will produce equally impressive returns.

🏦 3. Interest Rates

Next week’s employment data could determine whether the market rewards or punishes the high valuations attached to the MAG7.
