all about … market indicators

Introduction

Even though this year is already a few years old (publication date 2010), it still contains useful information, even if some of the content is no longer quite correct. This is noticeable when links in the book no longer work. However, a resourceful reader will quickly find the correct addresses again and can thus build up a valuable treasure trove of information pages to help them with their investing.

Book content

So what is this book (with a good 200 pages) about? As the name suggests, it explains various technical indicators. These can be “common” ones such as Bollinger Bands or the well-known MACD (Moving Average Convergence/Divergence), but also less well-known ones such as the McClellan Oscillator or the Arms Index. You will not only learn the background and other anecdotes, but also examples of applications. In addition, there are always comments from the inventor or other luminaries from the investor scene, which sometimes make you smile.

The book is suitable for anyone who primarily uses technical indicators as a basis for their decisions. They will find a wealth of data with which they can build their own personal set of indicators. The book is an entry point for beginners and a good reference for more advanced users. Fundamental enthusiasts (who prefer to read balance sheets) will also be able to broaden their horizons. However, those who have already delved deeply into the complex subject of technical indicators will certainly find other works that deal with even more sophisticated techniques.

The author Michael Sincere has a relaxed writing style and many years of experience as a specialist journalist, including for MarketWatch.
He also shares his personal insights here, from which the reader can certainly benefit. He also has other books on the stock market, such as “Understanding Stocks 2E” from 2014 or “Understanding Options 2E” from the same year (ASIN codes: B00HQ3EUWI and B00GWSXX8U), available from Amazon.

Conclusion

For beginners and slightly advanced traders who are looking for an introduction to the world of technical analysis without wanting to get too bogged down in complex details. Remember: some overly complicated technical analyses are really only for theory and are hardly meaningful in practice. Some I would describe as downright obscure, and these are fortunately omitted from this book.
